James McBey (Scottish, 1883-1959), “Portrait of Katie with Crayons,” oil on canvasboard portrait of a child resting her head on her arms atop a coloring book on a table, in an interior setting. Signed “James McBey / Tangier / July, 1956″ lower left. Housed in an ivory-painted wood frame. Sight: 15 1/2″H x 21 1/2” W. Frame: 23 1/3″H x 29 1/3″W.
PROVENANCE: Estate of the artists James McBey and Marguerite McBey, London, England; by descent through family; Brunk Auctions, Dec. 2021 lot 820; Private Middle Tennessee Collection.
CONDITION: Light surface grime and faint staining. Frame with significant losses to paint.
