Continental or English inlaid oak mural cupboard, also called a livery or glass cupboard, consisting of a flat molded rectangular top above a foliate carved frieze and two arched openings with carved surrounds, over two spindled sections, the upper section with center door and the base section with left and right doors, all above carved base molding. The whole flanked by foliate inlaid stiles and carved foliate sides. 36 1/8" H x 44" W x6 1/2" D.
PROVENANCE: Private Illinois Collection.
CONDITION: Cupboard appears to have a mix of 17th or 18th century and later elements, including early 19th backboards and later carved ornamentation. Early inlay and other original moldings exhibit some shrinkage, repairs and minor losses.
