World War I Model 1917 trench knife and original leather scabbard. Marked on the inside of the guard, "This knife was also known as the "Knuckle Duster". D-shaped guard with triangle shaped "Knuckles". Marked inside the guard, "A.C.CO. USA1917". Overall excellent, untouched condition, retains almost all bluing, no damage to tip, a couple areas of light oxidation. Scabbard in excellent shape with all rivets present – scabbard probably WWII era. Provenance – acquired from aWorld War II veteran who acquired it from an older U.S. soldier during the War. This is the second of two similar knives from this private collection. The first knife sold in our January 22, 2011 auction.
