Transitional Empire to Rococo Revival Victorian Sofa, serpentine form with pierced, floral-carved crestrail (good quality, deep carving). Gold damask upholstery with tufted back, acanthus carved arm supports ending in scroll feet, skirt ornamented at center with a carved cartouche. Stains and fraying to upholstery, frame in overall good condition with some small areas of missing molding, old breaks to carved crest. 38" H x 83 1/2" W x 32 1/2" D. Mid 19th century. Deaccessioned by Historic Belle Meade Plantation, exhibited in the mansion for several years. Proceeds to benefit the restoration of the collection
