Lot of 2 Cabinet Cards. 1ST ITEM: circa 1880-1890 cabinet card photo of Lewis Lobdell Hepburn (1832 – 1914), a revered gun maker, taken by the Fredericks' Family Portrait Gallery of New York. Lewis L. Hepburn had at least three careers after he finished an apprenticeship: one as a country gunmaker of muzzle-loading rifles, another as a senior employee of E. Remington & Sons Armory, for whom he designed the breechloading, single-shot action that bears his name and a career as theprinciple designer for the Marlin Firearms Company. He is credited for the design of the Model 1888 Marlin, and then with the introduction of the side ejection solid-top Marlin Model 1889 and the series of side-ejection Marlin rifles that followed.
