Mogens Vantore (Denmark/France, 1895-1977) oil on canvas impressionist style painting depicting a rainy, residential street in Paris in winter rendered in cool blues and greens with a pair of figures walking in the midground flanked by rows of two and three-story buildings. A building with a red painted first story and street lamp is at the right foreground with a row of leafless trees and the Paris skyline with smokestacks in the background. Signed and titled "Vantore Paris" lower left. Illegible written inscription and additional numbering, en verso of canvas. Housed in a modern giltwood frame. Sight: 25" H x 31" W. Frame: 30 1/8" H x 36 1/8" W.
PROVENANCE: The estate of Dr. Thomas Bechtel, Memphis, TN.
CONDITION: Overall good condition with surface grime and scattered minor abrasion to paint at borders, largest measuring 3/4" L. Frame with minor surface discoloration and some losses to gilt, largest measuring 1" H x 1/8" W.
