1st item: Tall cylindrical vase with tapering neck and green matte glaze, incised stamps for Newcomb College and Joseph Meyer (working 1896 – 1925). 6 1/4" H. Note: Joseph H. Meyer was the third potter hired for the Newcomb Pottery, working at the Newcomb pottery from 1896-1925. Most Newcomb pottery was thrown by Meyer and was based on designs by Newcomb college students and graduates under the direction of Mary Given Sheerer (information courtesy of http://www.knowla.org/). 2nd item: Floral design pottery inkwell, blue matte glaze ground with pink daisy floral decoration around the neck, incised stamp on the base for Newcomb College and potter, Jonathan Hunt. Additionally marked 226 and RL33. Decorated by Sarah A. E. Irvine with her mark to base. Base additionally retains the original Newcomb College paper label. 2 5/8" H. Condition: Both overall excellent condition. Inkwell with glaze/firing flaw to base. Inkwell likely missing original top. CONDITION: Both overall excellent condition.
