1st item: German Meissen porcelain polychrome decorated figural group depicting a shepherd and shepherdess embracing with a sheep resting on the shepherdess's knee, and raised on a naturalistic ground. Base impressed A 41. and 162 together with the Meissen blue crossed swords mark. Late 19th century. 2nd item: German Meissen porcelain polychrome decorated figural group depicting a pastoral scene with three figures, atop a round naturalistic ground. Underside with faint blue crossed swords mark. Late 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Franklin, TN collection, by descent from Norman and Martha Stein Dickson, who owned an antiques store at 732-736 Royal Street in New Orleans from the 1950s until their deaths in the 1970s.
CONDITION: 1st item: Overall good condition. Scattered chips to flowers and leaves, losses to the thumb and second finger on the shepherdess's left hand. Restoration to shepherdess's left arm. 2nd item: UV inspection reveals restoration throughout.
