Unusual Southern Cherry one-drawer table or candle stand, attributed to Middle Tennessee, poplar secondary. Overhanging top above one dovetailed drawer enclosed within a case dovetailed at the back and the lower front edge with a half round molding, above a cylindrical turned standard and tripodal base. 28 1/4" H x 18 1/2" W x 18" D. Mid 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The estate of Mary Ann Brown Lynn, Columbia, TN.
CONDITION: Old finish with expected wear and abrasions. Top with horizontal shrinkage, wood pulls are replacements. Lack of dovetails where the legs join the standard indicate they are both likely early replacements.
