Coreen Simpson (American, b. 1942), "Ebony," chromogenic print, titled lower left margin and signed lower right and dated 1989-90 in the lower right margin. Framed under plexiglass in a plain metallic silver frame. Image – 48 1/8 x 34 1/4. Sight – 53" H x 38"W. Frame – 54 1/2" H x 39 3/4"W. <br/><br/>Note: Colleen Simpson studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons School of Design. While working as a photojournalist for Vogue, Essence, the New York Times, and other publications, she also began taking photographs for herself of people whose style she found inspirational including some off the street. She also designs jewelry. Her work was discovered by curators and is currently in the collections of the museums including Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), The Bronx Museum, Le Musee De La Photographie (Belgium), and The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. Private collectors of her work include Danny Glover and Spike Lee.
PROVENANCE: The estate of Gary R. Haynes.
CONDITION: Some handling dings and light waviness to paper, not examined out of frame. Frame has some scratching and scattered tiny losses, particularly at upper edge.
