George II Irish Rococo sterling silver coffee or chocolate pot, the tapering body having hand chased floral, leaf, and shell repousse designs with bird’s head spout, circular footed base, artichoke or pineapple finial on a hinged lid, and scrolled wooden handle. Both sides with engraved central cartouche bearing a family crest, with the initials H. C. below the spout and on the base. Base and lid marked with maker’s mark WL or WT? (Possibly William Townsend), together with marks for Dubin, sterling. 11 1/4″ H. 39.795 total troy ounces. Circa 1750. Provenance – Lexington, Kentucky area collection.
