Two (2) Native American Cherokee rivercane baskets. 1st item: A purse form basket with walnut and butternut weavers woven in a radiating chief’s daughter design with a hickory handle, and a market basket with a squared base, fixed hickory handle, walnut weavers woven in the chief’s heart pattern. 12 1/2 in. H x 10 1/2 in. W x 9 in. D. 2nd item: Cherokee rivercane purse form basket with bloodroot and butternut weavers woven in the coffin pattern and fitted with hickory handles. 15 in. H x 13 in. W. Both early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: The collection of Marty and David Black, Rockford, TN.
CONDITION: Purse form basket in very good condition. Market basket with breaks to two weavers of the rim, but otherwise overall good condition.
