Two (2) large polychrome carved wood Santo figures on plinth-style bases, including one (1) depicting a barefoot figure with thread eyelashes in a green robe on a white base and one (1) Madonna figure in a floral dress with blue coat over one arm holding a Christ-child figure on a red-brown base, marked "Ano" with illegible and "8" to left shoulder. Ranging in size from 20 3/8" H x 9" W x 6 1/8" D to 24 1/2" H x 7 3/8" W x 5" D. Central or South American,19th century.
PROVENANCE: Deaccessioned by the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts Foundation to benefit the acquisitions fund.
CONDITION: Both items with losses including male figure's thumb and female figure's hand; splits in wood, largest measuring 22 3/4" L; and losses to polychrome paint. Bases with some losses to paint and wood. Figure with infant is detached from base.
