Two (2) Carl Sublett (Tennessee, 1919-2008) watercolor on paper seascape paintings depicting a blue ocean and brown landforms. Signed and dated “65 Sublett.” Housed under glass in matching gilt painted wood frames and white mats. Sight: 17 in. H x 23 in. W. Framed: 25 in. H x 29 3/4 in. W. Artist Notes: In 1982, he retired from teaching, and, in 1984, he opened the Sublett Gallery in Knoxville. In 1991, “The Unseen Carl Sublett” was the first exhibit at the new Knoxville Museum of Art (built on the site of the 1982 World’s Fair). Sublett won numerous awards for his paintings and was a member of the National Academy of Design. His works are in the collections of the National Academy of Design, the Tennessee State Museum, and Cheekwood, Nashville. (Source: The Tennessee Arts Commission).
CONDITION: Excellent condition, with fresh colors. Some scratches and paint scuffs to both frames.
