Obadiah Sherratt style pearl glazed earthenware figural Christening group with lustre highlights, titled "Baptism of Mary". Two towers and spray bocage background, with two ladies and two men (one with hat in hand) watching as a child is presented for baptism. Rare table base with four molded feet. 8"H x 7"W x 4-1/2"D. English, circa 1830. See Pat Halfpenny, English Earthenware Figures, p. 270, for a similar group and discussion of table base figures. Provenance: the estate of Elsie Seabrook, Tunica, Mississippi. Condition: Blacklight shows restoration (reattachment) to basin, pair of ladies and man with baby. Discoloration to left front leg of table base (does not flouresce), couple of very small chips to bocage, light wear to lustre.
