Portrait after John Hesselius (American, 1728-1778), depicting a young woman with upswept hair wearing a blue satin dress with pink satin wrap. Label on back reads "Thomas Austin's wife". Carved giltwood frame. Overall very good condition with areas of inpainting on bridge of nose and hair. Examination out of frame indicates an earlier canvas relined on a late 19th/early 20th century canvas. Sight: 29-1/8" H x 24" W. Framed: 32" H x 36-1/4" W. Late 18th/Early 19th century.
