Grouping of three (3) ladderback chairs attr. Southeast Tennessee, Polk County. 1st item: One (1) cherry corner chair having a splayed chamfered back with two slats, woven split oak seat, turned legs and ball feet, 32 1/4" H x 27 1/4" W x 15" D. 2nd-3rd items: Two (2) cherry ladderback armchairs with side slats for arm supports and woven spilt oak seats. Both with three shaped slats to the back and two slats to each side and turned legs, one chair with turned legs and ball feet. 40 1/4" H x 24" W x 16 1/4" D and 38 1/4" H x 21 1/2" W x 15" D. Exhibited at the Three Stars of Tennessee exhibit November 1-26, 2008, at the Carnegie Center for the Arts and History in Jackson, TN. Two of the chairs were featured as exhibit #117 and published in the catalog (page 127) with this history: "Descent in a Polk County family to a young lady in Lexington, Tennessee. The chair were made by her great, great grandfather. A blind great, great uncle did the woven oak splint seats. Chairs were sold to lender."
