Parcel-gilt snuff box, likely French, the hinged lid decorated with a gilded scene of a horse and rider in fox hunt attire, galloping through a landscape, set into a chased silver flange; lid with additional silver floral decoration to front, sides are silver with horizontal rib design. Gilt-lined interior. Various marks to interior under lid are worn and illegible, including what appears to be the Boar's head mark for Paris. Circa late 18th century. 1"H x 2 3/4" w x 1 3/4" D. 3.26 oz troy. Provenance: Estate of Bill Zarnon, Gatlinburg, Tenn. Condition: Some light wear to exterior and areas affected by opening and closing of lid (including marks), gilded interior is in good condition.
