Felix de Weldon (Austrian/American, 1907-2003) bronze sculpture titled "Discus Thrower", after the Greek original by Myron. Inscribed signature on base edge and numbered 3/100. Circa 1992. 29 1/2" H x 20" W.61 lbs. Note: Felix George Weihs de Weldon was known for his historical sculpture, most notably The Iwo Jima Memorial in Arlington Cemetary, the Malaysian National Monument in Kuala Lampur, and Royal portrait busts for King George V and King George VI. De Weldon was appointed President of the Fine Arts Commission by President Truman in 1950. He was also teacher and director at the Newport Rhode Island Academy of Art. Provenence: Private Middle Tennessee collection. CONDITION: Overall very good condition.
