Gerald Harvey Jones (Texas, 1933-2017) oil on canvas landscape painting depicting a sunlit valley, likely in Texas, with mesa in the distance and windmill in the foreground. Signed “G. Harvey” lower right. Contemporary molded giltwood frame. 22 3/4 in. W x 10 1/2 in. H. Note: Artist Gerald Harvey Jones was raised in the hills north of San Antonio. He graduated from North Texas State University and in 1963 decided to take up painting full time. Two years later, he was awarded the New Masters award by the American Artists Professional League at the Grand National exhibition in New York. His paintings have been collected by several museums, corporations, and dignitaries including President Lyndon B. Johnson and Sen. John Connally, who presented a G. Harvey original to each governor of Mexico’s four northern states. The Smithsonian Institution commissioned Harvey to paint “The Smithsonian Dream” commemorating its 150th anniversary. CONDITION:
Painting in excellent condition. Some small surface losses to frame edges, most notably to front, each under 1/2 in.
