1st item: Louis Bosa (New York/Italy,1905-1981) oil on board painting of a European street, probably in Italy, with one point perspective taking the viewers eye under semicircular archways into a distant narrowing alley with a figure. Signed "BOSA" lower right. Housed in a carved giltwood frame with carved corner elements and a linen liner. Sight: 9 1/2" H x 7 1/2" W. Framed: 16 3/4" H x 14 1/4" W. 2nd item: Charles Nicolas Sarka (New York/Illinois, 1879-1960) impressionistic oil on canvas mounted on board painting titled "Man Planting Tree" depicting an African-American man tending to a flowering tree, the Brooklyn Bridge and a strolling couple visible in the background. Signed "SARKA" lower left. Typed Young Fine Arts Auctions, North Berwick, ME paper label, dated 2/27/93, en verso. Housed in a wooden frame with carved reeded running pattern. Sight: 15" H x 12" W. Framed: 19" H x 16" W.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carl Klein, Brentwood, Tennessee.
CONDITION: 1st item: Overall good condition with some small abrasions, largest 1/2 cm. Light wear to frame. 2nd item: Overall buckling to canvas. Four scattered white paint marks, largest 1/4", to lower two thirds of canvas. Some craquelure, primarily to main figure. Edges of canvas are visible. Frame with abrasions, surface grime.
