Robert Chailloux (French, 1913-2005) oil on canvas, still life, depicting a porcelain tureen with brass pot, pitcher and various fruits against a plaster wall. Signed lower left. A label en verso gives this biography of the artist: Born in Paris, Chailloux studied art at the Ecole de Dessin de Belleville. He had his first exhibition in 1940 at the Salon des Artistes Francais and another in 1943 at the Salon de la Nationale. From there he became well known in art circles in France and the U.S. He is best known for his street scenes and "nature mort" still lifes. Giltwood and composition frame. 17-1/2" x 22-1/2" sight, 26" x 30" framed. Condition: Small smudge lower right corner of canvas, small chips/abrasions to corner of frame.
