John Angus Chamberlain (American, 1927-2011), “T.V. Christmas IMP/CP 1314,” 1984, monotype print with lithographic ink and hand coloring in crayon on Arches paper, inscribed in pencil IMP/CP 1314 and signed lower right “John Chamberlain,” with blind stamp. Mounted atop a white linen mat under plexiglass in a wooden frame with canted sides and gilt front edges. Sheet: 41 1/2 in. W x 29 1/2 in. H. Frame: 50 1/2 in. W x 38 1/2 in. H. Note: This print was acquired directly from the artist through his studio, Ten Coconut, in Sarasota Florida on Feb. 16, 1987, along with the signed aluminum template from which it was made, also for sale in this auction (lot 437).
PROVENANCE: The estate of Eleanor H. Baer, Memphis, Tennessee (The Eleanor H. Baer Irrevocable Trust), acquired directly from the artist’s studio, Ten Coconut, Inc., Sarasota, FL. A copy of the original Ten Coconut sales receipt as well as 1990 correspondence between Mrs. Baer and Pace Gallery (which later represented Chamberlain) regarding an appraisal are available to the winning bidder.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition. Areas of scattered light creasing, most noticeably to lower left quadrant at edges. Some minor spots of wear to frame.
