Four (4) iron hearth items. 1st item: William Bullock & Co. English pressing iron with S-curved handle to dissipate the heat from the circular sole plate. Stamped "W. BULLOCK & CO," and labeled "1976.7.48 48/41T" on bottom. 2nd item: wrought iron rushlight candle holder with upright jaw top and riveted free-moving arm supported on three cabriole, spade-shaped legs. Labeled "8/417" on bottom. 3rd & 4th items: wrought iron rushlight candle holders with upright jaw top and riveted free-moving arm with socket embedded into a block of wood. 3rd item labeled "6/417," and 4th labeled "7/417" on bottom. Ranging in size from 7 1/8" H x 3 7/8" dia. to 9 3/4" H x 5 3/8" W x 5" D. All items 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The collection of a Tennessee institution.
CONDITION: General use wear with oxidation to iron, one wooden base for rushlight with old insect damage.
