Joan Miro (Spanish, 1893-1983) abstract color lithograph on Japan Nacre paper, plate 14 from Le Lezard aux plumes d’or (The Lizard with Golden Feathers). Signed and numbered I/XX in pencil, lower margin. Published by Louis Broder, Paris, and printed by Mourlot, Paris. Ref.: Mourlot 797; Cramer Books 148. Floated under glass in a giltwood frame with tan textile liner and gilt fillet. Sheet: 16 in. H x 21 3/4 in. W. Framed: 30 3/4 in. H x 36 1/2 in. W. 1971. Note: Mourlot states that the total edition size is unknown. The present impression comes from the edition on Japan Nacre paper with wide margins. An edition on Japan paper with narrow margins also exists. Miro issued impressions on Rives, parchment, Japan, and Japan Nacre.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Stacy Widelitz. Mr. Widelitz was an award winning composer and songwriter, and a noted photographer. He led numerous arts boards in Nashville after relocating from Los Angeles in 2000, and served as an Oak Hill (TN) City Commissioner 2016-2020.
CONDITION: Approximately 1 in. x 1/2 in. area of discoloration to upper center, otherwise very good condition. Not examined outside of frame.
