1st item: English mahogany campaign lap desk, opening to green baize writing surface which lifts to storage compartment having brass prop for the lid. above one side drawer with compartmentalized interior. Retains key. 6" H x 18" W x 10" D. 19th century. 2nd item: Brass mounted rosewood game box, attributed to George W. Williams, having a partially hinged lid with brass inlaid tiger, stars, stripes, and escutcheon; and lower door to the body that opens to revieal a green baize interior with three compartments. 4 3/8" H x 17" W x 11 1/8" D. Possibly American, 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Urbana, Illinois collection.
CONDITION: 1st item: Scattered minor use wear. Loss of brass locking pin to lower drawer. Locking mechanism functional. 2nd item: Scattered losses, including one brass star, a portion of the inner locking mechanism, portion of interior veneer, areas of felt lining, and area at corner.
