Elaborate figural copper weathervane or wind machine titled, "Indian Attack at Shady Borene" by James Leonard. Features etched figures of a log cabin and settler family under attack by Indian warriors. The figures move as the propeller turns. Propeller with American flag etched designs. 35" L x 25" H. 1992. James Leonard (1949-present) is a well recognized modern folk artist from Orange, New Jersey. An example of his work can be seen in Smithsonian American Art Museum (1986.65.268). Provenance: estate of A. Welling LaGrone, Nashville, Tenn. Condition: Very good condition. Piece is functional but it appears that one wire may be missing.
