Group of eight (8) Catawba Native American pottery forms. 1st – 3rd items: Three (3) items by Monty Hawk Branham (20th/21st Century) including jar with Chief effigy head handles, horse effigy pot, and turtle sculpture; all signed "Monty Hawk Branham." 4th item: Monkey or harvest jug form with fan-shaped handle and tapering spout by Earl Robbins (1923-2010), signed "Earl Robbins." 5th item: Small vase with two handles by Evelyn George (1914-2007), signed, "Evelyn George," with additional pencil inscription to underside of base. 6th – 8th items: Three (3) pipes including peace pipe, signed, "Doris Blue;" figural Chief head pipe by Sara Ayers (1919-2002), signed, "Sara Ayers;" and turtle pipe by Mildred Blue (d. 1997), signed, "Mildred Blue." All pieces labeled, "Catawba Indian," and dated on base. Ranging in size from 7/8" H x 2 5/8" W x 1 3/4" D to 8 3/8" H x 7" W x 5 1/2" D. Dates range from 1977 to 2002.
PROVENANCE: Private East Tennessee collection. Purchased near reservation in Rock Hill, SC, some from a museum and some from Catawba fall festival/fair in mid or late 80s.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition. Scattered minute chipping to pitcher and horse effigy pot. Pinprick hole to body of jar with Chief effigy heads. Slight abrasion to face of Chief head pipe.
