Earl E. Collins (Connecticut/New York, 1925 – 1992) marine scene oil on canvas depicting English and American ships engaging in battle. Signed lower right "Earl Collins". Housed in a gilt wood frame. Sight – 23 1/2" H x 35 1/2" W. Overall – 29 3/4" Hx 41 3/4" W. 20th century. Biography (Courtesy Askart: The Artists' Bluebook): Earl Collins grew up surrounded by boats and focused his career mostly on marine paintings. After serving in World War II, he studied art in Paris as a student of Rudolph Eicher. From 1971, he was a member of the American Society of Marine Artists; his works are owned by the Chrysler Museum and the U.S. Navy. Condition: Overall very good condition.
