U.S. percussion model 1842 musket, .68 Caliber, lockplate stamped with an eagle design and "US" below and "Springfield 1850" on one end, butt plate has "SC" stamped on the top. Barrel has proof marks and "1851" marked on the tang. The number "5"is stamped on the lower barrel band. 42"barrel, 57 1/2" overall. Provenance – N. Flayderman & Co. Condition: Refinished, polished to a bright finish, minor pitting at breech. Ramrod and hammer screw are replacements.
