Luigi Corbellini (France/Italy, 1901-1968) oil on canvas genre painting depicting a somber young woman seated at a table containing a plate of fruit and a large bouquet. The subject, her head turned slightly toward the viewer, holds a flower from the bouquet in her hand, while in the background a black bird perches in a cage. French doors provide a view of an indistinct landscape in the background. Signed "Corbellini" lower right. Inscribed "Hammer", en verso. Housed in a reeded giltwood frame. Sight: 35 1/2" H x 29 1/2" W. Framed: 39 1/2" H x 33 1/2" W.
PROVENANCE: Private Nashville, Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition. Frame with scattered losses to gilt.
