Clinton Loveridge (New York/New Hampshire, 1838/9-1915) oil on canvas landscape painting of cows drinking from a stream and others in the field. Signed and dated "C. Loveridge 1894" lower left. Unframed. 12" H x 18" W. American, late 19th century. Provenance: Estate of Martha Lyman, Dayton, TN. Biography: Loveridge worked in Albany, NY from 1857 to 1860. He exhibited periodically at the National Academy of Design from 1867 to 1899. He exhibited at the Brooklyn Art Association from 1867 to 1884. He died in Brooklyn, NY in 1915. CONDITION: Fair condition with two punctures in canvas center to right side, largest 1/2". Three main areas of loss include two center top, largest 1/4", and one bottom left. Area of scratches 1" x 1" upper left side. Moderate loss around edges.
