East Tennessee, Roane County diminutive Sheraton chest of drawers, walnut primary, poplar secondary. Consisting of a plain rectangular top over four graduated, dovetailed and scratchbeaded drawers with wood pulls, sides with scalloped returns and spur bracket feet, and carved side skirts. 37 3/4" H x 38" W x 16 1/4" D. Mid-19th century. Note: Oral history of the chest being made by Peter Goodwin (1832-1892), a cabinetmaker who is the husband of quiltmaker, America Waller Goodwin, whose quilts are offered in the sale.
CONDITION: Overall good condition with older surface. Vertical wood shrinkage to left side, top with minor staining.
