Two Navajo Rugs. 1st item: A Navajo Crystal design rug with cream field and colors of beige, orange and brown. 72" x 52". 2nd item: A Navajo Eyedazzler design rug with colors of cream, beige, brown, blue and red. 76" x 48". Both 1st half of the 20th century. Provenance: Both rugs were given to the consignor's parents in the late 1930's as a wedding present by Navajo Indians on the reservation near the Canyon de Chelly of Arizona. The original owner was a Civil Engineer working for the U. S. Department of the Interior as a land surveyor, laying out trails on the reservation. 1st half 20th century. Condition: 1st item: Two holes in field, scattered wear , minor stains, wear and fraying on edges. 2nd item: Large hole in center, small hole near edge, 3" loss on border.
