Follower of Jean Baptist Camille Corot (French, 1796-1875) oil on canvas painting depicting figures, likely washerwomen, in a grove of trees near the bank of a body of water. Signed "Corot" lower right. Later Louis XV style giltwood frame. Sight: 10 5/8" H x 8 1/2" W. Framed: 16 1/2" H x 14 1/2" W.
CONDITION: Painting does not fit well in frame and is loose in frame. UV light shows some possible overpaint or infill painting to trees at center. Abrasion to paint at left perimeter from friction in frame. Some light surface grime. Some wear to frame.
