14K gold pocket watch made by the Rockford Watch Company of Rockford, Illinois. Double sunk enameled dial with Arabic numerals and secondary dial marked Rockford, 21 jewel movement marked "RWC, RG and numbered 546684". Front interior case marked "Keystone, 14K and 5229482". Interior movement cover marked Guaranteed 14K, .585 fine, The R.W.C. Co., and 5229482". The exterior movement cover with presentation inscription reading "J. Will Taylor from The National Bank of LaFollette, 12. 25. 13". Size 16s, produced Circa 1899. 103.5 total gross weight. Note: James Willis (J. Will) Taylor (1880-1939) from Union County, TN was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-sixth and to the ten succeeding Congresses serving from March 4, 1919, until his death in 1939.
PROVENANCE: Private East Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: Watch runs at time of inspection. Porcelain dial with breaks near edges – more conspicuous at the 7 and 11 o'clock positions. General expected wear with engraved initials to front and back case along with engraved presentation inscription.
