U.S. Springfield Armory 1884 Trapdoor Rifle, 50 caliber, serial #40886, Buffington rear sight, two piece trigger guard with a grooved/corregated trigger, case hardened low-arch breechblock marked "1884". U.S. Springfield marked lockplate. Barrel markings "VPP" on left breech area and "A" on center top of breech area. "6" stamped on the tang of the walnut stock. Barrel bands marked "U". Blued ramrod and sling mounts, inspector cartouche on underside of stock. Barrel length: 32 5/8". Condition: Overall very good condition with patinated walnut stock having minor dings and abrasions. Barrel and hardware with silver/brown patina. No pitting visible. Bore excellent. Slender chip to underside of lockplate. Mechanical functionality excellent.
