Four (4) Japanese Meiji Period Satsuma porcelain items. 1st item: Plate with symmetrical design of numerous ladies in court dress surrounding a central medallion of a bird upon a patterned gilt ground. Character mark inscribed in red to underside. 8 3/8" dia. 2nd-3rd items: Two (2) baluster form vases with vignettes of an interior domestic scene and a scene of monks bidding each other farewell to either side having raised gilt accents and patterning throughout. Raised on later added pierced hardwood stands.9 3/4" H x approx. 5 1/2" dia. 4th item: Charger with central well depicting samurai warriors in a village setting with figures emerging from a home in the background, bordered by patterned rim having raised gilt highlights throughout. Character mark inscribed in red to underside. 11 7/8" dia.
PROVENANCE: Property from the Collection of Jo Ann Cline Yates, Lookout Mountain, Tennessee.
CONDITION: 1st item: Overall excellent condition. 2nd-3rd items: Craquelure throughout, minute scattered wear to gilt decoration, and later added felt pads to undersides. 4th item: Craquelure throughout and minute scattered wear to gilt.
