Black Forest antler chandelier or Lusterweibchen with carved wood and polychrome whimsical figural mermaid, her upper half depicted in European late 18th century dress, her arms raised to support curved wrought-iron leaf branches, each electrified. Pair 4-point elk horns mounted to sides of figure. Three support chains consist of fifteen 4-inch long interlocking decorative hooks leading to round crown-shaped top. 33" H x 24" L x 34" W. German, Late 19th century/early 20th century. Provenance: The collection of internationally known ragtime pianist and historian Johnny Maddox, Gallatin, TN. CONDITION: Old repaired breaks to both antlers. Overall general wear. Functionality not tested or guaranteed.
