Three (3) American Heritage magazine military illustrations. 1st-2nd items: Two (2) Raymond F. Houlihan (Massachusetts, b. 1923) ink on paper illustrations depicting large groups of Civil War soldiers for "The Third Day at Gettysburg", originally published in American Heritage Magazine, December 1957, Vol. IX, No. 1, republished in the Civil War Chronicles edition, Spring 1993. Unsigned. Red pencil, pencil, and ink notations to drawings or the surrounding the card stock and en verso, one with written label reading Used: Dec. 1957, pp. 38-9 in "The Third Day at Gettysburg", top right. Transparency paper covers to both drawings with red and black ink notations about the 1993 reprint. Ranging in size from 9 1/4" H x 18 3/8" W to 9 7/8" H x 23 1/4" W. Mid 20th century. 3rd item: Joseph W. Papin (American, 1931-1992) ink on transparency paper illustration depicting a large company of 16th Century Spanish soldiers for "Indians of North America", published in American Heritage magazine, June 1961, Vol. XII, No. 4. Unsigned. Pencil and ink notations, top center, right, and lower left, typed label reading "Indians )F N.A. – Wars – S.W. – 1540's", lower right. 19 1/8" H x 24 1/8" W. Mid 20th century. CONDITION: 1st-2nd items: Overall good condition with scuffs, brown paste stains, largest 1 3/4", tears, largest 6 5/8" x 2 3/8" to transparency paper covers. 3rd item: Overall good condition with brown stains, largest 6" x 1 1/2", creases, to surface of paper.
