THE PRIVATE JOURNAL OF AARON BURR, First Edition, Vol. I-II, Number X15/250, reprinted in full from the original manuscript in the library of Mr. William K. Bixby, of St. Louis, MO, published by The Genesee Press, Rochester, 1903. Hardcover octavos, 1,004 total pages with 2 steel engraved frontispieces with tissue paper guards, hardbound in one quarter black leather with marbled paper sides, gilt lettering and blind stamping to spines, five raised hubs, marbled end papers. Numbered and initialed by Bixby to reverse of half title pages. Volume I includes a tipped-in TLS from Bixby to the original owner, Mr. Walter J. McBride, dated November 23, 1903, explaining his decision to publish the journals for friends and colleagues and that he was pleased to present McBride with copies of both volumes. McBride ex libris plates to interior of covers. Approximately 9 3/4" H x 6 7/8" W x 2 1/2" D.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Edith (Edie) M. Bass, Nashville, Tennessee, by descent from her parents, Walter Paul McBride and Claire Childs of Lake Forest, Illinois.
CONDITION: Covers in overall good condition with light wear to leather, corners slightly bumped. Pages in overall very good, legible condition with light toning.
