East Tennessee (McMinn Co.) cherry four poster bed with large acorn finials, illustrated in "The Art and Mystery of Tennessee Furniture", p. 243, fig. 333. Octagonal tapered posts, ball and octagonal tapered legs, headboard with pediment returns and turned rosette caps, turned post member above, arched footboard with turned blanket roll. Cherry primary, tulip poplar secondary. 62 1/2" H x 57" 1/4" W. Circa 1840-1855. Provenance – Estate of Bill Selden, Athens, TN. Condition: Older refinish, side railings replacements, possible old repair to right pediment return.
