Two (2) Signed Military related items, including Douglas W. MacArthur, Chung Il-kwon. 1st item: TLS. One page typed letter, From General of the Army Douglas W. MacArthur (1880-1964), New York, NY, to Miss Sofield, dated February 13, 1958. The letter reads "Dear Miss Sofield: Thank you so much for your birthday message. It was thoughtful, indeed, of you to think of me and I greatly appreciate it . With every good wish, Most Sincerely, Douglas MacArthur." PSA/DNA serial no. 18565. Does not include envelope. Housed in a plastic archival sleeve. 11 3/8" H x 8 7/8" W. 2nd item: Chung Il-kwon (1917-1994), General, ROK Army Chief of Staff, Taegu, Korea, signed letter of appreciation to Captain Paul Henry Dacklin, United States Army Infantry, dated October 30, 1954. Typed and written in English and Korean text on stationary with crossed Korean and United Nations flags and decorative border, the letter reads "…It is with great honor and pleasure that I extend my personal appreciation and gratitude in recognition of your exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding service in a position of great trust and responsibility as Administrative Officer of the 511th Military Intelligence Company, United States Army…" Housed under glass in a faux bamboo frame. Sight – 14 3/4" H x 20 3/4" W. Framed – 15 3/4" H x 21 5/8" W. Both items mid 20th century. CONDITION: Signatures in overall very good condition. 2nd item: Wrinkling, areas of dampstaining to lower left edge of sheet (does not affect signature). Not examined outside of frame.
