Middle Tennessee Sheraton walnut desk and bookcase or "plantation desk," Davidson County, with poplar secondary. Two part construction. Upper section with ogee cornice over two triple-pane glazed doors, three interior shelves, over two drawers with diamond inlaid escutcheons. Shelves in upper section align with transoms on doors. Base section has slanted top surface over two dovetailed drawers with raised oval escutcheons, and tall turned legs. 85 3/4" H x 39 3/4" W x 35" D. Circa 1835. Provenance – acquired in the Nashville area in the early 1950s. Condition: Refinished, slight wear to top section of base. Bank of drawers of upper case appear earlier than drawers of lower section.
