Two (2) American School portrait paintings. 1st item: James R. Laahs (American, 1935-1998) oil on canvas painting titled "La Jeune Fille" depicting a young girl with a red hat resting her arms on a table with a vase of flowers. The work is somewhat abstract, uses heavy impasto, and is rendered in varying shades of red and green. Signed, titled, and dated '70, en verso of canvas. Additional inscription and informational label, en verso of stretcher. Float mounted in a metal frame. Sight: 24 1/4" H x 30" W. Framed: 25" H x 31" W. 2nd item: Pascal Cucaro (American, 1915-2004) mixed media abstract portrait titled "Angelique" depicting a young girl, rendered in blue on a white ground with two indiscernible figures in the background. Signed "Cucaro" top left. Label with information about the artist and work, en verso. Housed in a carved giltwood Cassetta-style frame with a linen mat. Sight: 35" H x 23" W. Framed: 42 1/2" H x 30 1/2" W.
PROVENANCE: Deaccessioned by the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts Foundation to benefit the acquisitions fund.
CONDITION: 1st item: Overall excellent condition with very light wear to frame. 2nd item: Overall light surface grime. Some losses to carving on frame, largest 2".
