Mahogany Sheraton sideboard, prob. Mid Atlantic states. A highly figured mahogany veneered sideboard with a large gallery surround and semicircular well flanked by two glove drawers on each side, lightwood banded designs of rectangles at the center of the gallery back and semicircular well. Lower section consists of three drawers over four doors flanked by four reeded pilasters with turned feet. Secondary woods include poplar and pine (possibly white pine). 78 1/4" width x 57 3/4" width x 22 3/4" depth. First quarter of the 19th century. Provenance – Note stating New Orleans history. Estate of Bill Selden, Athens, TN. Condition: Minor patch repairs to gallery, repairs and minor losses to backside of gallery corners, couple of patches to escutcheons, right lower centra door with repaired hinges and minor warpage, interior of drawers and drawer sides refinished, some drawer sides with wear and repair, age separations to case sides.
