Two (2) Mexican Folk Art retablo paintings on tin depicting the Madonna and Child. 1st item: Painting depicting the Madonna and Child, both crowned and floating above clouds with the Virgin mother attired in an ornate blue garment with gilt detail on a light blue background. 14" H x 10 1/8". Late 19th/early 20th century. 2nd item: Painting depicting Our Lady of Mount Carmel with the Madonna and Child floating on a cloud in the night sky, the Virgin mother attired in the robes and red and gold shield of the Carmelite order. Both figures holding scapulars with the same emblem. 14" H x 9 3/4" W. Early 20th Century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of James Lewis, Carthage, Tennessee.
CONDITION: 1st item: Overall scattered areas of rust throughout and one scratch across the Madonna's face, approximately 2" L. 2nd item: Overall good condition with light scattered flaking and surface scratching.
