Large Persian/Iranian Sarouk carpet, all over floral vines and spray with central medallion on red/burgundy ground, floral borders predominantly with cobalt blue ground. Wool on cotton foundation. Dimensions: 361" L x 145" W (30' L x 12' 1" W). Second quarter 20th century.
PROVENANCE: Deaccessioned from the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art.
CONDITION: Overall good condition. Wear and condition commensurate with age and use including even pile wear, scattered knot pulling, lacking fringe. Wear and scattered areas of minor losses to selvage edge. Area rewoven near selvages edge 1" x 3". Small 3" slit to selvage edge into rug. Worn area into boarder edge 3" x 3", Some areas of soiling. Nice rug overall.
