Portrait of a Red-headed woman in a blue dress by Clarence Alfred Stagg (Tennessee, 1902-1942). Signed lower left. Painted wooden frame. Condition: Professionally conserved by Dee Minault of Cumberland Art Conservation in 2007. Lined, with scattered inpainting. Additional conservation notes en verso. 20 1/2" x 17" sight, 24 1/2 x 20 1/2" framed. Provenance: Dee Minault estate, Nashville, TN purchased from the estate of Stagg's brother in 2007. Note: Stagg was born in Nashville and studied in the Northeast, but returned to Tennessee in 1929 and opened an art studio. He worked primarily in the 1930s and was influenced by Cubism and Futurism.
