Persian pictorial area rug, wool on cotton foundation, having central stylized medallions with alternating blue and tan grounds and all-over figures of various birds and animals, and a floral border with cartouche decoration. Dimensions: 240" L x 144" W (20' L x 12' W). First quarter 20th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Kentucky estate.
CONDITION: Areas of pile wear down to foundation, scattered knot pulling. Some wear and areas of loss to selvage and fringe edges. Even fading, abrash evident, and some soiling throughout.
